We took one last chilly trip to Calaway Park. It may be a bit cold but it is nice there are no crowds.
Including almost no line at the roller coaster. Gwen was not tall enough yet, and we hadn't gone on it all year. So today was the day!
The kids really enjoy the fall and Halloween decorations.
And the drop ride!
Seems to never get old to the girls.
Took a trip with some bat friends...
Since the weather was turning cold, Mom harvested the garden. It was a great bounty.
We've been going to the Alzheimer's Thanksgiving Day run for 5 years now, and for the first time, the weather was miserable. Cold, rain and snow. But Dad would not be deterred.
The warm up helped everyone fight off the cold.
And there was just enough snow to make a mini snowman.
The girls' signs were a hit as usual.
Dad finished 8th overall. Not bad!
We had Thanksgiving dinner with Uncle Jamie, Leah, Leah's mom and Nana. It was delicious!
More snow meant some snowman building. We miss summer already.
Luckily fall warmed up a bit. We dogsat for a night because Kaiya's owners were busy...
Having baby Amelia. The girls were super excited to meet their new cousin!
Kaiya was good but really missed her family. Cosmo was not impressed.
We used the leaves to get some ghosts ready for Halloween, but first, we had a couple of birthdays to attend to!
Cara had her party at a Climb Park. It had lots of different types of climbing walls.
These crazy high pillars that were a bit scary, but not for Cara.
Even some letters to climb. Gives you an idea of how high up the kids got to go. It was a big hit.
They also had a huge slide that the kids all got to try.
They pulled you up until you said stop, and then you let gravity do its work!
Cara almost went to the top!
Fearless Gwen had to be told to stop going up.
The slide seemed huge compared to the kids, especially Gwen.
Cara off to climb the beanstalk...
Any giants up there?
Gwen looked for the Golden Goose too.
Gwen was a little short for many of the climbing walls, but this one was spaced out just close enough that she could get to the top.
Then it was cupcake time!
The birthday girl!
The next day was Cara's actual birthday, so even though it was a school day that meant...
Breakfast in bed!
At supper, we had more cupcakes.
And another birthday wish.
Looking like a big girl.
Jamie's family and Nana came over to celebrate and the girls met Amelia for the first time. Gwen got to hold her.
And the birthday girl too.
Everyone's a big fan.
Cara wanted a doll to take care of and we delivered. Here she is with April.
Three days later, it was Mom's birthday. The girls were very excited. Since Gwen had piano class, we went out for dinner the next day. But we still did presents and cake on her big day!
We carved some pumpkins. The kids were very good at designing and even helped carve them a bit.
Costume day at school meant some fun for a black kitty cat and Super Gwen.
Super Gwen started climbing class on that day too. She is doing great and slowly getting over her fear of heights.
Trick or Treat! Girl Captain America (aka American Dream), a mermaid princess and Cara's friend as a Power Ranger.
She had heard the rumours of the pile of candy Cara gets, so we told her to bring a pillowcase!
Getting ready to go. The puking pumpkin was a big hit.
We had decent weather and lots of fun.
Captain America is ready for some candy!
Even mermaid princesses gotta get their sugar fix.
We had the biggest haul ever. We filled two pillow cases in 2 hours. And 129 kids came to our door. Next year, we'll get an even bigger pile!
Stay tuned for Gwen's birthday, Gwen's party and more!
