Gwen's class went on a field trip to the Bow Habitat Station and Mom got to go along. Lots of cool fish.
And some nice artwork.
Where's your jacket, Gwen!?
Cara got a big scratch on her face at school from a friend. It was an accident but a good lesson in holding a pencil properly!
The kids had R2-D2 smoothies to celebrate May the 4th.
We went for a walk with Jamie and Kaiya to a park by their house, because there are a bunch of car dealerships nearby...
We bought a second car after years of car swapping. It should make our life a bit easier. It's great so far! Happy Mother's Day!
Gwen put on a concert for us and asked for some volunteers from the stands.
With the new found car freedom, the girls get to have treats after school more often!
The girls started soccer with their friends Leah and Sidney. Dad is trying to teach them to get in there and steal the ball!
They'd rather pose and dab.
We had to make a trip to Okotoks, so we had to check out the town's namesake. The girls were impressed by the Big Rock.
We climbed on some of the smaller boulders...
And thought about this rock falling off a glacier a long, long time ago!
We were in Okotoks to pick up Nanny and Papa who were judging a dog show. We got to see them judge the end of their last groups, and Papa judged Best in Show. The kids thought it was cool, although a bit long. Dad had flashbacks of his childhood.
On Mother's Day we went to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. It was pretty busy but the birds were still around. We saw some Canada geese and their goslings.
Cara with her Nanny on Mother's Day.
After the bird sanctuary we went to Pierce Estate Park.
The kids really liked seeing Nanny and Papa!
Red-winged blackbirds were hanging out.
Dad and Mother.
Mary and Mother-in-law.
We had Swiss Chalet for supper. The kids got pizza. Who orders pizza from Swiss Chalet?
Group shot!
Happy Mother's Day to the girls' favourite mom.
On Monday, we took the day off and headed to Bowness Park. This crazy tourist was asking to get bit by a goose.
The girls hoping for slow walkin', low talkin' Jones to come rescue them.
Family portrait on the Bow.
It was a great visit and we hope to see Nanny and Papa again soon!
Both kids are voracious readers, sometimes to the point where we have to yell at them to stop. For example, at breakfast when we have to get to school!
The day after Nanny and Papa left, Aunt Deborah came for a visit. She and Mary went to the Calgary tower for lunch. They checked out the glass floor...
and had lunch in the revolving restaurant. It was a fun day.
On Friday, they headed to the Mountains for some sightseeing. They checked out Bow Falls.
And ate pizza at Lake Louise.
There's still some snow in the mountains, so they built a little snowman.
The girls were happy to see their Aunt and to school her in King of Tokyo.
Spring is officially here and our apple tree is blossoming. It looks like some apples are going to grow this year. The dandelions are back so Dad waged war again.
The kids love the crochet water balloons from the Mary Maker.
Having some cuddles on the couch.
Cara started in-line skating at school again and skates like a pro.
Limbo time!
We went to the space-themed family dance at the school. The kids wore their R2-D2 and BB-8 outfits to go with the theme.
Gwen wearing moon shoes.
Cara walking on the moon.
Cara and her friend Parker in a rocket.
Gwen blasting off to where no girl has gone before.
Gwen got invited to an 80's dance party. Luckily Mom is an expert in 80's fashion.
Fidget spinners have invaded our home!
We hit Calaway Park for the first time and the girls are getting big. They went on the Samba Spin and Mom spared herself from the dizziness.
Cara is big enough for adult rides only now, so she's learning how to drive a bumper car in the big leagues.
We went for a spin on the swings.
A nice relaxing balloon ride.
Little dragons.
The drop ride is still a favourite.
Just scary enough.
Lots of Free Fallin' was sung.
Next month is end of school, piano recital and more fun!
