More California Adventures - Day 1 @ Disneyland!

We packed up our rental car at Jill's and we were off to spend a few days on our next adventure:
Disneyland!

We got to Anaheim and checked in to our hotel/parked the car around lunch time.

Our hotel was literally a few minutes from Disneyland so we headed there to find some lunch. 

Two Disney experts ready to have some Disney fun!

Entering the magic through the magic tunnel.  You can actually feel the magic!

We did some exploring and got some tickets to see a show that night.
And had some lunch in Tomorrowland.

Our first ride of the trip:
Autotopia

...the rocket ships was a fun ride with a new view of the castle too!

It was very hot.  So we had a frozen treat to cool off.
The Olaf bar - frozen lemonade with a strawberry coulis swirl.

Next we went on a Jungle Cruise in Adventureland.

Does that ape have a gun!?!
We survived the cruise and did more exploring.

Back to Tomorrowland for a Star Tours ride.

On the ride they show a photo of someone who is the "rebel spy" in the story - and on our ride it was Cara!

The Winnie the Pooh ride!

  Then we stopped by the Haunted Mansion for a photo.

Gwen is a hitchhiking ghost!

We had supper at the Hungry Bear near Winnie the Pooh
The we rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (that mountain in the photo) - our first Disney roller coaster and it turned out to be our favourite.
Then the sun was setting so we got ready for our show we got tickets for: Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! was amazing!  It is a story of Mickey Mouse dreaming of all the Disney movies and this giant dragon from Sleeping Beauty arrives Mickey defeats it.

The show is full of music, movies shown on water screens, fireworks, flaming water - it was a spectacular show.
Gwen said while watching it "I dreamed this last night and now my dream has come true!!!"

The finale has Steamboat Willie Mickey driving the Mark Twain paddle boat with all of the Disney characters waving to the audience.

After that show was over we stayed for the nightly fireworks.
Again - awesome music, effects and fireworks!

During the Let It Go Frozen portion it started snowing!

And Gwen belted out her favourite song!

Cara and Gwen were thoroughly impressed with our first day at Disneyland.
