When we arrived at our cottage in Stanhope PEI we had to go see the beach right away!
It was about a 10 minute walk from the cottage.
Great views and the girls love the ocean.
We found shells, sea glass and cool rocks.
And this cool crab.
Then back to our new home away from home for a yummy supper and a good long sleep after our long drive.
Day 1
We woke up and headed to the tourist trap area to see Ripley's Believe it or not Museum!
Lizard Man!
The tall guy!
Pretty tall!
A fox with a bowtie and a hat - Believe It or Not!
A vampire killing kit - always handy.
Daddy tested his handshake grip...
...it was found to be Patriotic!
Our 2 girls with a 2 headed cow. Moo moo.
Can you roll your tongue?
Justin Bieber #1
Believe It or Not - they still have these juice boxes from the 80s in a display!
After the museum the girls found themselves some wooden snakes and we went to a park for a picnic lunch.
The park was in front of the Green Gables house and while we ate we watched the Osprey nest.
And a big crow!
Then we were ready for the Anne Experience!
Carrots.
Braids suit Daddy best.
While we were walking toward the house who should we run into?
Anne Shirley, of course!
We said hello, she said hello. Mom commented that we didn't expect to see her here and she replied, "But I LIVE here, of course!!"
It was hilarious and strange.
Since we were visiting before the Canada Day long weekend we were avoiding the summer crowds.
There were only a few groups of visitors that day.
There were only a few groups of visitors that day.
It was great - like we had the place to ourselves.
We even went through the house twice!
The girls had some ice cream while the parents had some Raspberry Cordial (we heard that one out of ten bottles was Currant Wine!)
Anne's pretty room.
Then we went for a walk though the Haunted Wood.
As we walked a large branch fell in the trees and made a commotion.
100% sure it was a ghost.
Pretty PEI forest.
The girls in Matthew's carriage....but there wasn't anything to pull it...
...much better! Cara is trying to get Mom moving!
It was such a lovely time at Anne's Green Gables.
Then we went to play some mini-golf - the PEI summer pass time.
Hole-in-one!
We were ready for supper - a traditional lobster supper!
So we went to Fisherman's Wharf restaurant. Cara was up for trying new things.
She tried a mussel!
She liked it!!!
Kids had fish and chips and parents had lobster.
The girls tried the lobster too but were happy with their fish choice - since their meal didn't have a face.
Yum!
Mom tried mussels too and liked them!
Found another cool crab on the beach visit.
Day 2
When we were planning our trip Cara was looking at the map of the Island and wanted to go to the Eastern point on our trip.
So we planned a trip east to East Point.
From Stanhope we started off and stopped at a few beaches on the way. It was a bit foggy.
This is Beach 1 and there is a lighthouse out there in the dunes.
Beach 2
The girls ran around here for awhile stretching their legs.
Wave jumping!
Wave flying.
Mom found lots of beach glass at this beach.
On the drive we saw this ultimately spooky dilapidated old farm house.
Then we made it to the tippy tip of the Island. East Point! It was very foggy...we did a tour of the lighthouse. This pic shows the names of men who were rescued from a shipwreck in the 1800s!
It is a very old lighthouse and it was very cool to climb it.
At the top!
See the fog?
The tour guide was telling us what we could see if it weren't foggy...
But it was so foggy!
It was still so cool to be in this very old lighthouse.
The decent!
Many stairs.
Fisherman Cara
Here it is.
And look...the fog is lifting!!!
There it is! Blue sky and the lighthouse we were in!
Lighthouse selfie.
Then we continued the drive to the Singing Sands beach.
The fog was hanging around there but it was warm and there were great waves for jumping in.
The sand was like brown sugar. When you walk in it it squeaks! That's why it's called Singing Sands.
Hermit crab!
Then we drove back to Cavendish and went to the wax museum.
The girls were a bit freaked out.
I wonder why?
Perfectly normal Walt Disney sitting in a tree.
Hardly scary!
They got over the weirdness and had lots of fun.
Gwen loves Dolly Parton and was happy to see her!
Cara had a Force pushing contest with Yoda.
The girls became part of the display of heads.
Then Mom and Dad did too.
We bought some fresh scallops on the way home and Mom cooked them up at the cottage. She'd never cooked them before and they came out perfectly!
That night we had time for a bonfire and had some roasted marshmallows.
Sisters having some root beer before bed...ah vacation!
Day 3
Canada Day!
We had a full day of fun planned for this day and got an early start on the road to Cavendish.
We had our old timey Victorian portrait done.
Then we had a tee time at another mini golf course.
Cara had a hole-in-one!
The giant lobster was a hit.
Gwen's hole-in-one!!!
Had an early lunch of Cows Ice Cream!
Moooo!
Then we went to Cavendish Beach.
It was hot and sunny and the water was perfect.
Zero jellyfish!
A super fun day and it was only early afternoon!
We then headed back to our cottage where we had a swim in the pool. Then we got ready to go to Charlottetown for supper and to spend the evening celebrating Canada Day!
At dinner Gwen saw her favourite Hippo.
Pose by the statue for a pic...Gwen salutes.
Our nearly 8 year old and nearly 6 year old.
This was the right year to go to Charlottetown.
John A MacDonald telling the girls some jokes.
Another Cows cow...Gwen had to milk it.
More discussions with some Fathers of Confederation.
We walked down to the water's edge and found a good spot for fireworks watching.
Bringing bubbles along was genius for helping to pass the time.
Happy Birthday Canada!
The fireworks were amazing!
We had a perfect spot and it was an incredible show.
Day 4
Outside our cottage was a great little play set and climber and the girls loved playing out there.
They had to get some pics since this was our last morning on the Island.
They really had a great time exploring this part of our country.
Group shot in front of the ladder to the loft of the cottage - the girls loved playing up there and sleeping there too. One night had lots of inch worms!
On the outside step to the cottage.

On the outside step to the cottage.
After checking out we got on the road.
We stopped at Cows in Charlottetown one more time for a little tour.
And we had one more scoop of ice cream too.
Then we got on the road toward the bridge.
On last beach stop at Argyle Shores Provincial Park.
The tide was in so there wasn't much beach to explore but the cliffs were very red.
Another Cows cow at the Borden-Carlton shops.
One last PEI picnic - it was very windy and a plate of chips blew off the table!
Some bridge education.
