Big Sister to be!

As we announced to all of our family this week - Cara is going to be a big sister this fall! So now Baby Byrne's Blog will track the progress of all Byrne Babies. The photo above was not Cara's reaction to the news - she was just tired at the end of the day and didn't want to pose. Baby Byrne #2 is doing fine. I have another check up in a couple of weeks. Due date is somewhere between Halloween and Nov 5!

This was another lovely, warm week of Spring here and we went to the park with our neighbour and her daughter Cassidy. Here are the girls in the bubble.

Cassidy is 3 months younger than Cara - Cara isn't sure what she is doing on the slide!

This weekend we went to the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (aka geek expo!). It was alot of fun! Some people went dressed up but we did not. Cara enjoyed meeting R2D2 as he beeped and moved around.

We had our photo taken with two of the stars from the show Battlestar Galactica. When I was pregnant with Cara we watched the whole series and Cara's name was inspired by a character named Kara on the show. So, since we had the chance to meet "Helo" (left) and "The Chief" (right) and get a photo we did it!

There were many stars at the expo - this is Malcolm McDowell (of Clockwork Orange fame).

And this is Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek TNG!). If you look closely he is autographing a photo for US! We got the meet him and talk to him! And he said that Cara was beautiful :) It was great!

Playoffs begin!

Hockey playoffs started so Cara made her picks for the first round. She picked a few upsets so we'll see how well she predicts!

By the end of the week we had nice summery weather here. Cara had some good walks and keeps her sun hat on all the time!

We went for ice cream today but had to settle for Popsicles. Cara loved it! After each bite she'd say "mmmmm!".

The summery feeling lasted through a watermelon snack too.

Yum!

Bad Cold :(

Cara and I had our bad colds continue all week this week. So we didn't do too much. It was pretty cold here this week so we stayed in and tried to get better. We even had a freak snow storm one night that had blizzard conditions and knocked out our power for an hour or so! Where is our Spring??!! Cara did have a few smiles (see above photo:)

We found a toddler rocking chair at a baby-stuff yard sale on the weekend. Cara loves sitting down and rocking! (and eating bananas, too!)

Happy Easter!

'C' is for Cara and cookie and cell phone - Cara really likes her new toy cell (thanks Caleb & Lucas!). So hip!

On Wednesday we went to the zoo again with our friends Rebecca and Leah. Cara and Leah pretended to be joeys in this kangaroo's pouch.

By Easter morning Cara and I were both sick and she'd been up coughing at night (not fun). But she felt good enough to go for an Easter egg hunt in our front yard! She got the idea of it right away and found all her eggs fast!

Egg hunting is very serious business for her...no smiles!

We walked to a field after Easter supper and let Cara run around with her ball.

Then she had a nice warm bath and off to bed!

First trip to the Dentist and a visit to Canmore...

Cara had a great week! On Friday she and I went to the dentist! Her first check up was a success - no crying and no cavities :) We still have to work on brushing better but the dentist said her teeth look good. And we both scored new toothbrushes!

On Saturday we took a trip to Canmore for an overnight visit with Nana and Howie. This is Cara showing off her beautiful teeth while we strolled around town.

A Spring trip to the zoo!

We had some nice Spring weather this week so we took a trip to the zoo on Tuesday with our friends Verity and Freya.

Cara really had a blast at the zoo. She loved seeing and pointing at all of the animals! Here she is with an Australian Monitor!

Another sure sign of Spring are Cara's new sneakers! She looks so grown up now in real big-girl sneaks!

Climbing has begun!

This week began with some sadness. We said goodbye to our great Goti on Tuesday - he was 18 years and 1 week old. We miss him but are happy to know that he is not suffering anymore.

Cara figured out a new trick this week - climbing! She climbs into her toy box many times a day...

...and climbs onto the couch alot too!

She gave us lots of smiles this week (she's working on the last teeth to come in but they are very slow).

She loves playing with me and her Daddy. She's getting 2 or more walks out of us a day!
