Canada Wins GOLD!

Cara learned to spin thanks to watching the figure skaters at the Olympics.

Cara and I looked after our friend Freya for her mom Verity this week. Cara was a big help keeping her entertained!

Smokey and Goti's birthdays are coming up this week (they will both be 17!). Smokey is doing well but Goti is showing his age. For a while now he has had some kind of growth in his head that has been affecting his eye and making him snore really loudly. In the last couple of weeks it seems like the tumour is getting worse. We'll keep you posted on any news.

We cheered on Canada at the Olympics all week - Cara loves waving her flag!

Our old laptop quit on us this week so now we have a nice new fast one - Cara has fun with the webcam!

We went to Nana & Howie's to watch Canada vs USA for the GOLD! Here is Cara happy that Canada got an early lead!

Here she is getting a little worried that USA scored...

She got even more worried when it went to overtime...but was joyous when Canada won! What a great Olympics it has been!

Olympic Rings and meeting Firemen!

Cara had a week of teething - finally broke another tooth through so now she has 12 teeth! Lots of drooling :)

We have been watching the Olympics almost non-stop - so much fun watching! Cara will pump her arms up and down as we chant "Go, Canada, Go!"

She has also taken to wearing her stacking rings as braclets - if she is up she is wearing at least one all the time! They do look like the Olympic rings so maybe she is just in the spirit of things!

After a fairly uneventful week we had some excitement on Saturday night. At about 11pm as we were on our way to bed our carbon monoxide detector started beeping! Adam called 911 and they said to get Cara up and all of us wait outside (in -15 degrees) for the Fire Dept to come check it out and take some readings. We waited in the car and they arrived very quickly and after checking it out told us it was a false alarm. Cara was amazed by the sight of the big firetruck and waved and blew kisses at the firemen! They gave her a dalmatian toy that is wearing a Calgary Fire Dept t-shirt. So cute!

Cara loves being outside and loves the snow.

And she loves swinging at the park.

And she loves playing with her Daddy :)

Olympics Begin & Valentine's Day

Here we are all dressed in Canada gear to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies! Go Canada Go!
We are trying to teach Cara to say "Canada" and so far she is saying "na-da"...maybe by the end of the 16 days she'll be saying Canada! Her newest and now favourite word is "cookie" :)

She is getting to be very ticklish and has a great laugh!

This is just creepy - Poltergeist anyone???

Cara is reading a Valentine!

Cara got some chocolate for Valentine's Day - she loves it!

She's starting to sleep really well now and has totally weaned herself this past week. We are all enjoying the better sleep - finally! She even lets us sleep in on weekends - such a sweetheart.

All dressed up for Valentine's Day!

Superbowl Sunday!

Cara has become a very messy eater so some nights the shirt stays at the dinner table and she enjoys some half-naked play time!

Cara spent most of the week just "hangin' out".
We went for a playdate with Rebecca and Leah on Wednesday which was fun but didn't get any pics.

Superbowl Sunday means time to make some guacamole! Cara sees a tasty future for these avocados :)

This tomato will do nicely - Cara could eat tomatoes like apples. She loves them!

Adventurous baby-foodie tried a lime wedge. She made faces but kept on eating it and had seconds!
