39 weeks - Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Cara experienced true uncomfortable Calgary heat this week - it has been so hot! We give her a cool bath before bed and that helps her...but it is pretty uncomfortable snuggling since that makes it even hotter so going to sleep has been tough. She has been more whiny too but I think the top teeth are working their way in so that and the heat is just uncomfortable, poor Cara :(

We celebrated Adam's birthday on Thursday and Cara tried cake for the first time :) It was carrot cake so that is nutritious, right ;) She liked it, of course!

Cara, Nana and I took a trip to the zoo this week and had a good time - I've been to the zoo alot in the last couple of months and I see something new every time I go. This trip we witnessed the elephants getting romantic! It was something I thought I would never see in my life and it was incredible! Cara slept through it so thankfully I avoided having to have "the talk" with her at her young age ;)

Watching the ceremonial candle blow and wondering "what is Daddy doing!?!?"

Trying cake...

...and loving it!

Practicing waving with Nana at the zoo!

Friendly elephants!

The innocent look of "I'm not going to torment Goti!"

The look of "Ok, I tormented Goti but I'm so adorable it is forgivable!"

38 weeks - Summer is here!

Cara hard at work on her blog!

Well summer weather finally arrived this week in Calgary - it is hot! We took Cara to a wading pool for a her first pool experience and she loved it! She just wanted to keep walking in the water - not afraid at all :) We'll take her back there for sure. Since she prefers to be standing and walking now anyway a wading pool is a great place to be on a hot day!

Cara is cruising all around the living room now - going from table to couch and back again. She is getting to sitting position on her own now and pulling up on anything and everything! She is also testing her balancing skills by letting go of whatever is holding her up...she has had a few tumbles but recovers quickly - most of the time she falls onto her bum :)

Cara's newest favourite foods are spinach, homemade beef hash, and pasta with tomato sauce. I spent a few days stocking up the freezer, making the new recipes, this week and so far she's enjoying to new tastes and textures.

Playing the "take everything out of the toy box" game!

Helping Mummy make supper with a wooden spoon :)

"Is there something on my face???"

Yummy carrots!

Cruising table to couch!

Enjoying a story with Nana :)

Remember Cara at about 2 months old in the laundry basket?

Now she's about 8.5 months old in the same basket!!!

37 weeks - Stampede time YA-HOO!

Cara had a very busy week with lots of visiting, meeting new people, experiencing Stampede, and welcoming a new member of the family to the brood. Last weekend was full of visiting and meeting her extended family at Nana's wedding to Howie - now Cara is a very lucky little girl with a Nanny, a Papa, a Grampy, a Nana and a Howie! Lots of people to love and to love her back :) Cara was very well behaved throughout the day and night!

The next day we went to the Calgary Stampede with Aunt Sarah, Aunt Deborah, Uncle Jason and Isaac & Maggie. It was the wettest day the Stampede has had in a long time! It poured rain most of the day - luckily we were watching the Rodeo from the covered part of the Grandstand so we stayed relatively dry. We had enough dry time to walk around the grounds and get some cotton candy :) We had a great time and Cara did too!

All of this activity really screwed up Cara's sleep schedule (not that it was very strict!) and now she is sleeping in until 10am and staying up until 11pm!!! So we are working at getting that back to "normal". I'm sure she'll be back on normal time just in time for our trip East where she will experience jet lag and get really messed up!!! No matter though we are looking forward to the trip :)

36 weeks - Happy Canada Day!

Cara had a very busy week this week. Her Aunt Deborah, Uncle Jason and cousins Isaac and Maggie arrived first for a visit so Cara has been showing them her favourite spots (the mall and the zoo!) Then Aunt Sarah arrived and we took her to the zoo and the mall then Uncle Jamie and his girlfriend Leah arrived and we stayed in and let Jamie change some diapers!!! Cara is having fun getting to know her extended family :)

She is crawling constantly and pulling up on everything now...in fact she is not happy unless she is standing these days! She loves being walked around the room and if she had the balance part down she would be running I'm sure! She has also figured out how to get up the stairs!
