Scraped knees and outdoor fun!

We've had a great week of weather - but almost everyday had a thunderstorm roll through and fill up the puddles for Cara to splash in.

She had a great time splashing but ended the fun when she tripped and fell and scraped her knee (again!)...she is going to have some tough knees by the end of the summer!

We went to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary with our friends Verity and baby Freya. We had a nice walk around the park and then had a great picnic. The girls were very good but scared away the birds!

One of Cara's favourite things to do now is hide on Mummy or Daddy before bed. She always hides in the same spot and always peaks around the corner of the bed before we can find her :)

One of the shots from our kidsphoto photo shoot.

And another shot! Here Cara was blowing kisses!

Happy Father's Day!

Here is Cara with Grampy's suitcase before we took him to the airport on Tuesday. She is looking forward to seeing him again in August!

Cara loves her toys. She loves to stack them on the steps and hug them all. Her toys are so neat this time thanks to some help from Nana :)

Cara is practicing driving while talking and texting early. She refuses to sign the "no phone zone" pledge!

We had a very nice Father's Day and went for a picnic in Riley Park. Cara kept her Daddy busy running around the park and playground.

Cara had alot of fun on the playground!

She rode this duck and quacked at it too.

And we waded in the wading pool to cool off. This is her version of a thumbs up.

She finished off Father's Day bringing her Daddy a nice cold beer!

Baby Byrne #2 update:
I had a check up at the doctor on Friday and the results of the ultrasound were that everything is fine and the baby is right on track for 20 weeks along. That is my last visit to my family doctor and starting in July I'll go to the OB. I'm still feeling fine and I'm definitely starting to show!

Grampy's Visit in photos

Cara had a great visit with her Grampy or Gwampy as she called him. She liked having him read her books every evening before bed time.

After a few days of rain we took Grampy to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary for a walk around and to look at some birds. Here Cara is looking at some ducks.

Cara is checking out the Bow River...or maybe the Elbow River...

Cara was a great guide.

Cara had a great time!

On Saturday it was nice and sunny and we went to Calaway Park (an amusement park). Here Cara is helping Adam deal with his fear of the train ride :)

Grampy wasn't afraid at all!

Cara went for a ride on the "SkyRider". Once she was on it she wasn't sure about the heights - notice the clutching of her hand on the post.

While we had lunch Cara took a tumble on the pavement and scraped both her knees :( The nice EMT at the first aid station gave her cool purple band aids and that made her feel better.

Group shot!

Cara's first time driving!

Cara on the carousel.

On Sunday we went to Bar U Ranch (a historic ranch south of Calgary). We got a horse drawn wagon ride around the ranch and the cowboy let Cara drive.

The horses took us across a creek.

Cara tried out a saddle!

And tried out the shower.

She helped guide Grampy from one building to the next.

It was a very sunny and hot day!

Cara's favourite thing was picking dandelions!

On Monday we went to the zoo. They now have robotic dinosaurs. Cara was not a big fan!

She waved at the gorillas.

And played in the kangaroo.

She danced with the elephants.

And rode a zebra!

All of the peacocks were walking around and this one gave us a nice show of his feathers.

We all had a great time with Grampy and hope he comes back soon. We are looking forward to seeing folks back in NB in August!

Visiting with Grampy!

Cara has been busy visiting with Grampy all week. We've been so busy that I'm saving the full blog update until Tuesday after we take him to the airport. So check back then for full photo coverage of the week!

This is a pic that we took at our visit to Bar U Ranch today...we're going to the zoo tomorrow!

A look at Baby Byrne#2 and planting flowers!

Cara had a good week - ate a lot as usual! She is very good at feeding herself now.

One of her newest pass-times is playing dress-up. Notice the mismatched shoes, purse and hat choice :) She did get in the bike trailer again this week with the helmet on and rode around a bit...having a cookie with her helped.

City-girl plays in the dirt.

We planted some flowers in pots to add some colour to the step. This is the brightest of the bunch!

Watering the freshly planted flowers.

Cara inspecting a ladybug on a plant. She loves bugs!

On Friday we had the 18 week ultrasound for Baby Byrne #2. Here is a bit of 3D video of it - quality is a bit off since the placenta is in the way but you can see the baby sucking his/her thumb. Baby Byrne #2 wasn't cooperating so the gender is unknown...we're hoping we get another chance to find out before November!
