November Update

November has wrapped up and we had a fun and busy month.  Gwen turned 4 and we got a new addition to our family.

Cara is learning how to be a teacher at school...teaching Gwen and big stuffies.
Gwen got to celebrate her birthday at school by handing out cupcakes to her friends!
Gwen can't stay in bed long enough in the morning to have breakfast in bed but breakfast at the coffee table was just as good.
 Sister hugs during gift opening.
She was so excited for new undies!  Thanks Nanny & Papa!
Proud owner of her own Elsa doll :)
4 year old with a Frozen cake.

 Big sister loves cake.
 Daddy too!
Before cake time there was icing time.
A top 10 moment of childhood.
Our 4 year old girl :)
Showing off her new Rapunzel nightgown.
Another day Cara painted all the planets in a solar system kit she got for her birthday.  Her mobile now hangs in her space room.
Another weekend we went to a movie to celebrate Leah's birthday. Gwen and Sidney had a great time.
After the movie that day we went to the Calgary Humane Society to look for a cat.  We met this cat Charlie and she was a nice 3 year old cat but she just wasn't "the one" so we decided to go back another day.
Well, the next day was Gwen's birthday party!
She asked for a Frozen birthday and to watch the movie with her friends Sidney and Leah.
Uncle Jamie and Leah came too and it was so much fun.
 Gwen's dream cake.
A Frozen Elsa cake....Ice Cream Cake!!!
She was so ready to have some cake.
The doll cake was a surprise for her.  She saw it on Pinterest and wanted it but it seemed daunting.
Not that hard actually!
Elsa and the party girls.
Yummy dress!
Cara's school had a parent teacher night and we got to go see some of her art work.
We've had snow and really cold and not so cold days.
The girls had fun on a melting day that made the snow sticky.
Cara reacts to snow like sand...."please bury me!"
Another Saturday morning skating lesson.
After skating we went back to the Humane Society and met with a tiny kitten who was so fun and cute and sweet that he was "the one"!
His shelter name was Gumbo and he was about 10 weeks old.
"Gumbo" day 1 at home.
He loves to play!

Finally a kitty to snuggle!
And squeeze.... Gwen loves him so so much!
And snuggle :)

His favourite guy is Adam and has regular evening cuddles.
He has a great purrr.
We had another snow storm to end November and it left a nice drift to our front door.
We started the December fun on November 30 with a fun kit from Nana.
The girls love crafts.
We liked "Gumbo" but wanted to name him ourselves.  After much discussion and brainstorming we chose....."COSMO"!
We love Cosmo!
Advent began and we are now well into our Christmas preparations.

We'll update again before Christmas with pics of the fun!

October - A Look Back

October 1 - Cara lost another tooth!  After much wiggling and a little pulling...that tooth was history!
The easiest way to eat spaghetti!
We had one last trip to Calaway with Leah, Sidney and their parents.
The girls had so much fun.
 And the moms too.
Gwen and her buddy the skeleton.
It was a sunny, warm almost summery day - a great end to the Calaway season.
 Thanksgiving Weekend:
Daddy ran his first 5k race!
Cara helped him with the warm up.
 He was off!
The girls cheered him to the finish!
He was super fast!
The girls met the mascot for the Calgary Hitmen.
Later that day Jamie and Leah came over for Thanksgiving dinner.
And some soccer practice.
It was such a beautiful day that we had a fire after dinner and did some star gazing.
Nana & Howie dropped by for some pie and a bedtime story.
The girls have a ritual after school.
They get a snack and have a picnic in the bonus room.
Sister bonding.
Our birch tree was a lovely shade of yellow.
It has been a very mild fall.
After Thanksgiving we started decorating for Halloween.
Gwen also loved jumping in the leaf pile.
 Cara and our ghosties.
 Leaf pile destroyers.
The girls started skating lessons.  Cara is unparented now and doing amazing.  Gwen is a very brave skater and doesn't mind the falling...she jumps right back up.
 October 19 - Day of Cara's 6th Birthday Party!
Star Wars Theme
R2D2 cake!
 7 girls - 7 foam lightsabers
thankfully it was a nice day and they played outside.
And they had a lot of fun!
Birthday Girl wearing her Yoda ears and making a wish.

Then it was time to defeat the Death Star pinata with the lightsabers.
Foam didn't do it so....
Cara got to finish it off with a "real" lightsaber (a dowel).

She was so happy for new undies :)
And total shock and happiness for a Frozen tshirt!
 More cake and candles!
Cara and her Birthday Cakes through the years.
She got some Darth Vader pjs so she attacked Gwen during teeth brushing.
She got to blow out another candle the day after her Birthday with a nice visit from Nana and Grampa Howie.
Thanks to Aunt Jill for cultivating lying in the family with the Fibber game ;)
Sweet Darth Cara dreaming of the Dark Side.
Gwen in a frosty field on our morning walk home from Cara's school.
Cara was going to be a tiger for her school dress up day so we had to practice the face paint.
The day before Halloween she got to dress up for school (no school on Halloween day).
So we painted her face.
And put her in our tiger suit!
Gwen loved it since it reminded her of Daniel Tiger (her fav tv show)
The girls chose some pumpkin designs and let Mommy do all the carving.
Gwen chose a kitty and Cara chose a fire-face (you can see that one out on the step in a pic coming up)
And we had to have a try at a Jack Skellington pumpkin.
Family pumpkin carving selfie - by Cara.
While Cara as a tiger at school, Gwen had her final ballet class and Mommy and Daddy got to go watch.

She is the cutest ballerina and a fabulous dancer!
Gwen had preschool on Halloween day so she got to dress up and chose her Rapunzel costume from last year.
Her BFF Sidney was a kitty!
Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair!
At about 6 we started seeing kids out so the girls had to get out trick or treating.
They only let me take a quick picture of Tiny the Pteranadon and Black Widow Spider before they took Daddy and ran down the street.
They stopped by the house an hour later to take a small break and I got another picture.
Then they were off again!
We have a great neighbourhood for trick or treating in.
We got about 115 at our door!
Lots and lots of treats this year!

Our sweet vampires :)

Now the blog is up to date!

Yay!

Tune in for full coverage of Gwen's 4th Birthday celebrations - some on her day and some the next weekend!
