Bike Rides and Calaway Park Rides

With sunny days here we got the bikes out and the girls had their first ride together in the bike trailer.  Gwen loved it and Cara was happy to have some company in there - Cara has definitely grown and barely fits in there though!
Gwen thought is was a good way to travel!
Cara on her new tricycle!  She outgrew her other trike and she was pretty leery about going for a 2 wheeler with training wheels - when she found this one in the store she fell in love!
On Sunday we went to Calaway Park for our first trip of 2012!
Gwen had a great time and went of a few rides.
Cara went on a new ride - a kiddie roller coaster that she has to go on by herself!  She was so excited!
She said she loved it but her face while riding told another story.  She said that it sounded like a monster was chasing her.
Gwen and Daddy watching brave Cara on the coaster!
Cara on a much tamer ride - new this year she can hold herself on the horse by herself for the whole ride so Mummy gets to ride a horse while Daddy holds Gwen!
Daddy helping Gwen fish for a frog!
Cara and Daddy won this shark on another game - it is as tall as Cara and she named him Billy (what she names everything!)
We have season passes again for Calaway Park so there will be more pics from there through the summer!

Victoria Day Weekend

We welcomed the unofficial start to summer with some fun times over the Victoria Day weekend.  We put a screen door on our front door (while Nana & Howie babysat) on Saturday and on Sunday we drove out to Canmore for a picnic.
Gwen picnics walking around - which is much more interesting than sitting and eating.  She loved the fresh mountain air!

Cara picnics properly and keeps an eye out for ants and announces each one with "an ant! now it's a picnic!!" then she offers the ant some fruit.
A gorgeous day!
So nice we kept driving until we found some woods to walk in.  Cara requested that our adventure included walking in the woods.  We found a trail easily.
Only hitch was that the trail was all uphill.  Cara did well but got tired...so Daddy carried both girls for awhile!
Cara was keeping an eye out for Totoro (click to find out what/who Totoro is).  She was pointing to tags in the woods and knocked over trees as signs that Totoro has been there leaving her clues.  Well, just after this picture was taken we were looking in the woods behind us for any clues and that is when Mummy spotted something moving in the brush!  To grown ups it appeared to be a black bear!!! And all of the hikers started talking loudly and warning each other of the bear just off the trail.  We had started back down the hill anyway so we continued on our way.  Well, Cara had it all figured out.  She knew that it was really her friend Totoro that we saw it just looked like a bear to the grown ups but she saw Totoro.  It was a pretty magical walk in the woods!
Before we left Canmore we stopped at the candy store and Cara got a bag of treats - including a gummy tarantula!
Gwen was totally jealous!
Monday we went to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary for a Bug Hunt for Cara and a Bird Hunt for everyone else.
Gwen really likes riding in the backpack on Daddy's back!
Cara found lots of bugs including this big spider on the path!
She also loved using the binoculars!
Gwen walked some of the way around the path and really liked going across this bridge.
One of the many birds we saw.  This chickadee was so close we could have reached out and touched it.  We also saw deer within a few feet of us!
Daddy and Gwen looking for more birds!
Cara liked this tree a lot with its exposed roots.  She requested that her picture be taken beside it.

Happy Mother's Day

Cara orange smile :)
We went to our friends' (Verity, Rod and Freya) house for a nice BBQ this weekend.  The girls had a great time jumping on the trampoline!
Gwen even got a turn and she loved walking around and trying to jump - and the static shows off how long her hair is!
Cara realized she could make us all laugh by smooshing her face on the netting...a face only a mother could love :)
On Sunday the girls and Daddy made a great Mother's Day breakfast in bed for me!  Eggos, strawberries, coffee and juice.  Gwen ate most of the stawberries and some of the eggos too.  They made me sweet cards and gave me a great camera bag to keep all the camera stuff in.  And they were sweetie pies all day :)
We went and flew our kites after supper which was fun for all.
Gwen tired of watching the kite and likes to wander around the park.  She also tumbled down the steep hill a bit since she is a daredevil and likes to test the limits of her 18 month old self.  Thankfully she did not get hurt - she laughed it off and continued to try to go down the hill over and over.
Mommy and the girls on Mother's Day 2012!
Luckiest Mother to have these sweeties!

Super Moon & Super Crazy Weather

The Super Moon in Calgary!
Is it the moon's fault that we had some crazy weather this weekend???
Cara and Gwen love to have picnics at lunch time.  This was a rainy day so they had lunch in the living room.
Friday was a nice sunny day and Gwen got to have her first ice cream cone!
Saturday it snowed!
Gwen and Cara had fun with one last (we hope) snow day!
Snowball fight!
Gwen walking around with one boot on...Daddy and Mummy didn't notice.  Cara did though and ran and got Gwen's boot for her!
Sunday was a beautiful day!  We tried out our new kite but the wind wasn't quite strong enough.  We had a lot of fun trying to fly a kite though!
Gwen loves running free in the park!
