March 2018

Gwen made these hoops in class and loves showing off her hoop dance.

We've had a very snowy winter this year, but luckily the kids are old enough to help with the shoveling.  In between playing in the snow, they can clear a lot of the walkway and driveway.

Gwen's classroom pet is a hamster named Crackers.  The kids got to bring home a stuffy version and Gwen was very excited to have another pet!

Gwen had to draw a picture about impatience.  Her idea was "Impatience is when you are Donald Trump and you want everyone to get out!"

It's St. Patrick's Day!  Gwen put on her best leprechaun outfit to celebrate at school.

Gwen's Brownie unit got to go to the observatory south of Calgary to learn about space.  It was a bit too cloudy to see any stars, but they still got to do other activities.  Here she is with her pipecleaner rocket.

Walking on the moon.

Gwen and Mom posing by a huge telescope.

While Gwen and Mom were at the Observatory Cara and Dad went to a Flames game!
Cara got to see her favourite team the Sharks beat the Flames 7-4! Go Sharks Go!

Cara's Guide unit had a Wizard of Oz camping trip planned for St. Patrick's Day weekend.  Cara went a bit late because of the hockey game, but got there by breakfast the next morning.  She had a great time.

The Leprechaun came and left his usual mess with a few chocolate coins.

Gwen was feeling very Irish.  She is getting better at wearing her glasses...when she remembers!

The next day after picking up Cara we hit the Glenbow Museum.  Cara still remembers a lot from when she spent a week there in Grade 2.

Sisters outside a tipi.

The kids get bigger but the suit of armour never does.

Gwen with the Knight in Not-so-Shining Armour.

We had our traditional Irish stew and mashed potatoes now that Cara was home.

Cosmo is a weird cat, even when doing something as simple as looking out the window.

Gwen's Brownie troop got to go to Home Depot and build some periscopes.  She did great and home managed to hit Dad's thumb with the hammer one time.

To celebrate the beginning of Spring Break, the kids got some Easter donuts.

Both kids had great parent teacher reports.  And we got to see some of Gwen's artwork, including this ladybug picture she made.

We took a walk in Bowness park.  The sun was out but the snow just won't stop.

It was great snowball snow so we had a good time.

We went to DQ for lunch one day and the girls were amazed that you could get delicious burgers there.  Maybe we should get them out more.

Since Cara got to go see the Sharks, we figured Gwen would want to see one too.  Even though it wasn't a Leafs game (her fave team) she was excited to see the Blue Jackets.

We had a blast.  The Blue Jackets won 5-1, but it was still a good time.

We checked out the new Y.  We had fun on the waterslide and the wave pool, but it was a little chilly since it's still the middle of winter according to Mother Nature.

The day before Easter, we dyed our eggs.

They turned out great this year.

Some of our handiwork.

End of March and still days of bitter cold.  Will winter ever end?  Hopefully it's not too cold for the Easter bunny to show!
