Doctor Visit #4

We had another doctor's appointment on Monday July 21. Adam was writing his P.Eng test so I was on my own for this one.

Met yet another doctor at the clinic and she gave me the results of my latest blood work. My blood sugars are fine (so no gestational diabetes - yippee) and she said that my iron stores are great and to keep up whatever I'm doing.

I gained about 5 lbs since my last appointment (which is a bit much she said) but I am also still measuring big - so the Dr said that the baby must have had a growth spurt and that makes the weight make sense. I'm still within a normal weight gain so nothing to worry about there...it's all belly!

To show the growth spurt you can see in our weekly belly pictures me at 21 weeks and me at 26 weeks in the same outfit...we're not sure how much bigger the belly can or will get!!!

We go back to the doctor for a shot since my blood type is negative in 2 weeks (Aug 8) and we have our next ultrasound on Aug 11 to check on the position of my placenta. We are very excited to see baby Byrne again. We get to feel (and see) her kicks everyday but another glimpse before the big day will be awesome!

Visit from Dad/Stampede Fever

My dad was here for a visit for the first week of July. We had great weather and got to see just about everything! Dad really enjoyed his first Calgary Stampede experience and we enjoyed it too! As you can see from our pictures we all had a great time :) Adam even wore a cowboy hat to the parade!!

That is not Adam on the buckin' bronco but that is me sitting on a saddled scud missile - how many pregnant women have done that?!?!?

Dr Appt #3

We went to our third Dr's appointment on Friday. Still feeling great and healthy! My blood pressure was great and I'm measuring a bit big! Just a couple of cm though, likely a growth spurt and not a giant baby!!! We were happy to hear the heartbeat again - it was good and strong.

We found out that we get to have another ultrasound - around 30 weeks. Apparently our 18 wk ultrasound showed a "low lying" placenta. The next ultrasound will make sure that it has moved up and is not in the way for a normal delivery. In most cases when it is seen early it moves away by 30 weeks and is not a big deal. We're not too worried about it - I haven't had any symptoms of problems so we'll just take the opportunity to see Little Baby Byrne one more time!

In a couple of weeks I go for more bloodwork and then we're back at the Dr in 4 weeks. Here is my belly shot at 22 wks 3 days.

Our Trip to NB

The three of us had a great trip home for Aunt Sarah and Uncle James's wedding. The weather was great and it was so great to see everyone at the wedding. We also had a great time at home in Quispam - it's always nice to get home and relax!!

This pic is us at a lake somewhere in NB near Harvey Station. It was a great location for the bride and groom to have pictures taken and we got a couple in as well. This is at 20 weeks and 2 days pregnant.

She's got legs...

...and she knows how to use them!

I've been feeling some kicks and movement for a couple of weeks and the other night Adam finally got to feel one too.

We're getting ready this weekend for our trip East on Tuesday - lots of packing to do and we can't wait to see everyone at the wedding (and the Byrnes, too)!!

18 week ultrasound - the results!

We had our ultrasound this morning and it was great. Baby Byrne has over doubled in size since our last ultrasound - now measuring a whole 13.5 cm long!

The heart, bladder, eyes, brain, bones, stomach, cord, etc were looking perfectly formed and Baby Byrne is a real mover - alot of cute poses for the camera! Some highlights here for you all to see.

We also found out that Little Baby Byrne is Little Baby Girl Byrne! At least with the 80% certainty that the tech gave us (they never say 100%) but we definitely saw signs of a little girl and no signs of a little boy. So it looks like Charlotte's wish for a girl cousin could be coming true!! We are very excited!! :)

Second Doctor's Appointment - May 23, 2008

We had our second appointment with our clinic in their new office (much newer and nicer than their old office). We met the Friday doctor Dr. Linda Slocombe who looks surprisingly like the actor Alan Rickman (from Die Hard and Harry Potter movies).

We heard the heartbeat again which was good and strong (150 bpm). I have no complaints with being pregnant, I'm feeling great!

My blood tests were all good and my blood pressure was perfect. We learned that I am not immune to German Measles and my blood type is A negative. I am also measuring perfectly for just over 18 weeks.

We go back to the ultrasound clinic on Tuesday May 27 at 7:45 am for our next ultrasound. We are excited for the ultrasound but not for waking up that early! Will post new pictures and results soon after.

Our next doctor appointment is June 20.
