A Visit to a Farm!

We went to visit a cow farm!  Howie's brother Tom's farm is about and hour away and the new calves are being born so Howie & Nana took us all out to see them.  Cara was so excited and had to wear her cowboy hat!
We started the tour with a visit to some cow twins in the barn.  These guys were so tiny and cute!  Gwen liked talking to them and Cara liked petting them.
The cow twins and Cara!
Mama Cows.
 Baby cow.
More baby cows.
Brand new baby cow.  This little one was born while we were eating lunch.  He was still wet but already walking around on his new legs!
Cara's favourite part of the farm: the cow poop.  Second favourite: the cows.  Least favourite: the mooing.  (the mama cows were mooing alot at us and at their babies!)
 Our little cow girls!
Gwen was so fearless with this calf.  She started chatting and reached right out and grabbed his ear!
The little white cow loved the girls so much he followed us all the way to the gate and wanted to come home with us.
This is Napoleon and Patch.  They are looking at a really strange sight...
...this little girl!
Once we were out of the muddy (poopy) areas Gwen got to walk around and she loves walking around a farm!
She got to meet Key.  Gwen loves animals!
Cara loved being at a farm.  She loved playing with these tractors and she left her hat on all day!
The Byrnes at the farm!
Gwen has passed another milestone:  she now sits forward facing in her car seat!  She liked her car seat before but now she loves it.  She smiled the whole drive (until she fell asleep!).  Such a big girl!
Gwen is also a really good self feeder now.  She scoops and eats and doesn't make as big a mess as Cara used to...that is until Gwen is finished eating then she starts throwing things off the tray...then it is a huge mess!

  1. This is a real Alberta photo-op! Cattle and calves and Cara in a cow girl hat is as close to a rodeo experience you can get in early March. Gwen and Cara with the new-born calf is a delight! Thanks for this... Grampy

  2. Love the cows and cowgirls! That last photo of Gwen with the zoodles has "Irvine" all over her face. Normally I see Adam's looks first in her, but that grin reminds me of all our "baby" photos. sweet girls as always!
