Aggie Days

This weekend we went to Aggie Days!
This is an agricultural fair for kids that is put on by the Calgary Stampede.  It is very similar to what they do at the Stampede but there is more for Aggie Days.  We saw goat milking, bunny races, baby chicks and sheep sheering!  Cara made rope, planted seeds and made butter!  We also collected a bunch of pencils (Cara's favourite part!).
The girls in front of a huge tractor wheel.
There were lots of real animals there but Cara really enjoyed the statues!
Turning a crank, making her own cowboy rope!
Gwen loved all the animals and walked around quite a bit.  Then she rode around on Mummy's back.
Our girls with their Indian Princess hats on.  The photo behind them is of this year's Stampede Indian Princess Amelia Crowshoe.
Native dancers!
The boy is doing the Chicken Dance and the girl is doing the Fancy Dance.  They were fun to watch and Cara and Gwen both were looking for some new moves.
Cara learned about being a cow - including being branded!
And she got a pencil so that made her especially happy!
Bumped into Calgary's Mayor Nenshi while we were looking at the piglets!
Gwen getting a close look at a chick.  This was after lunch and she was very tired hence the "what am I supposed to do with that?!?" look.  She did pet it and said "Hi!".
Cara got to hold the chick and was so cute.  She said she was smiling at the chick so he wouldn't be afraid of the camera flash.
Daddy and Cara going through the "corn" maze!
Aggie Days was so much fun and now we're really excited for this year's Stampede!

  1. Aggie Days looked like fun... lots of fun! The statue animals are more predictable! I can see where this is a great preview of even bigger things to come! -- Grampy
